worship

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength." So, that's what we want to do. This love is expressed through so much more than praising God with music (which we love), but rather surrendering everything we are to God. In Romans 12, Paul says that true worship is to offer our bodies "as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God." Whether it's our time, money, relationships, plans, degrees, careers, or anything else that makes up our lives- we surrender it all to Jesus in worship.

In addition to the greatest, Jesus also gave us the second greatest commandment: "love your neighbor as yourself." At Chi Alpha, we love each other. A lot. Whether we're sharing life in D-Group, worshipping together at a Thursday night service, getting away on a retreat, or flying all over the world to serve the poor and oppressed, we love doing it together. We are fighting for a community like that found in Acts chapter 2. Community that is marked by devotion to the word, fellowship with one another, sharing of burdens, sacrifice, and the Lord adding to our number daily those who are being saved.

Jesus also gave us a commission-it's pretty great. In Matthew 28, Jesus says "therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." We believe that it is the call of every Christ follower to be actively involved in fulfilling this commission. We are actively calling, equipping, and sending students into the mission field. Locally, nationally, and globally, we sacrifice to serve the broken, the lonely, and the lost. We long to proclaim Jesus with our words and lives everywhere we go.
